Effect of Induced Ageing on Nutrients Content of some Selected Castor Seeds Genotypes

Castor is an important oilseed crop with great utilitarian value in industrial, pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors, the major constituents of seeds are lipids, carbohydrates, proteins and, course, nucleic acids. Seed deterioration associated various cellular, metabolic chemical alterations to seed constituents. The objective this study was determine effects induced ageing on nutrient content castor seeds. carried out by subjecting accessions placing incubator at a temperature 40OC 100% relative humidity for 0, 2, 4 6 days. A total twelve (12) were used study. Percentage fats, protein, reducing sugar determined aged using standard biochemical procedures. result showed progressive decrease protein increased time which became significant (p < 0.05) day four all parameters measured. percentage fats ranged from 38.01% NCRI-P-007 9.0% NCRICAS036, 57.98% NCRI-P-40 54.10% NCRICAS019 39.93% NCRI-P-39 14.55% NCRICAS036. has led conclusion that lose its nutrients storage time.
